Other Fun Schools Projects from 2005

Over 20 students contributed to this live to air broadcast from the school on the 20th of May 2005. Paula Wreidt, Minister for Education in Tasmania, appeared as a guest on the program to participate in the event. The show was recorded and relayed via the internet to the college’s sister-schools in China and Japan; the live international broadcast being a first for the Tasmanian Education Department.

The event was filmed with the assistance of Roar Films. Footage was later  presented at the World Expo in Aichi, Japan. The Manager of International Affairs will traveled to Aichi in June to showcase the program before a board of world educational leaders.

The broadcast took six months of solid planning, Edge Radio and Elizabeth College being responsible for programming and technical development.  The project was  supported by the ‘Office of Youth Affairs’, the ‘Tasmanian Community Fund’ and 'The Foundation For Young Australians - Youth For Youth Investments' program.

The Hobart College Schoolies team conducted a live broadcast before their student body on the 27th of July 2005 with special guest John Safran.

Melbourne based comediam John Safran has spent much of his journalism career involved with community radio, having hosted a show on Melbourne’s 3RRR, and rearranged his schedule to fly into Hobart specifically for the event.

The project was  supported by the ‘Office of Youth Affairs’, the ‘Tasmanian Community Fund’ and 'The Foundation For Young Australians - Youth For Youth Investments' program.

The 2005 TasMusic Rock Challenge Live Broadcast

The TasMusic Rock Challenge is the State's premiere youth music event, and Edge Radio brought the finals live to air in  2005.

In August over 1500 screaming fans piled into Albert Hall Launceston to watch Tassie’s finest emerging acts. Edge Radio brought the concert live to the airwaves for the first time.

Due to popular demand Edge Radio aired 2-hour highlights replay in November. Over 23 young Tasmanian artists received live recordings of their performance, and we are currently arranging a statewide radio replay with other Tasmanian stations.
