Songwriter, singer, and multi-disciplinary artist Jehnny Beth has released her sophomore album You Heartbreaker, You.
“Performing live has always been at the heart of my creative process, and it was also the starting point for this new album.” she says of the record, which features collaborations with Joe Talbot (IDLES) and Romy Madley Croft (The XX).
Recorded and produced by longtime co-creator Johnny Hostile at their 20L07 studio in France, You Heartbreaker, You is visceral, abrasive and cathartic. “We’re living in a dark time, full of drama and barbarous tragedy. It became clear to me that, in these times, we either learn how to scream really well, or we learn how to whisper,” Jehnny says. “For this album, Johnny and I worked on the music and the visuals simultaneously. One moment we were recording in the studio, the next we were taking pictures, or making a t-shirt, one always informing the other,”
Capturing the feeling of being broken in a broken world, where love still operates on a prehistoric level, You Heartbreaker, You is a radical work that cuts straight to the core: heart to heart.
