Edge Radio offers a range of training courses that are available to the public, businesses and those interested in volunteering for the station.

Next Broadcasting Class:

  • Thursdays 6.30-8.30pm, May 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th.
  • Thursdays 6.30-8.30pm, Aug 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th.
  • Thursdays 6.30-8.30pm, Nov 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd.

Next Podcasting Class:

  • Thursdays 6-7.30pm: July 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th.

Introduction To Radio Broadcasting

Price: $220 standard | $150 concession

Next Broadcasting Class: tbc.

Introduction to Radio Broadcasting introduces you to the world of radio and the underlying concepts and laws people in the media must follow along with an opportunity to have hands on time with studio equipment.

All station volunteers wishing to host, co-host or produce a radio show must complete this training and induction prior to your show going live.

The course is also open to those who wish to learn about being a radio broadcaster but don’t necessarily want to get on air.

  • Community Radio Overview
  • Introduction to the Studio
  • Media Law Basics
  • Interview Basics
  • Planning a Program
  • Presenting a Program
  • AMRAP Pages
  • Operating the Panel

All sessions will be delivered at the UTAS Sandy Bay Campus.

The cost of the course includes your first year of membership.

Introduction to Podcasting – ONLINE

Price: $200 standard | $150 concession
Duration: Four weekly sessions

Ever wanted to make a podcast? Dream of becoming a podcaster?
This course will give you practical advice and skills training for you to take your podcast from ideas to reality.  Today, podcasting is more relevant than ever with global superstars like This American Life, Radiolab, Serial and S-Town attracting millions of listeners world-wide.

  • Podcast and Podcasting Overview
  • Legalities of Podcasting
  • Equipment and Requirements
  • Podcast Hosting and Publishing
  • Planning a Podcast and Podcast series
  • Constructive Journalism
  • Interview Basics
  • Podcast Production and Editing 

All students will be required to produce and edit a 10 minute podcast for review post training.
