Grace Chia has released her new album, The Human Grey. Gritty, honest and introspective, the project explores the complexity, struggle and art of being human in a collapsing world.

The Human Grey is a triumph in Australian underground hip-hop, featuring numerous artists including Nelson Dialect, Manaz Ill and DJ Mizhap. Exploring sounds of alternative, conscious hip-hop and neo soul, the album steps into a deeply introspective world filled with vinyl dust and morning mist.

From soulful tracks like ‘Oneironaut’ to old school hip-hop vibes like ‘Little Towns’, Chia explores a range of complex concepts through her experimental hip-hop approach. The project is conceptual, opening with ‘Dear Winter’: a conversation between Winter personified as a toxic lover, and later on featuring ‘The Bird That Changed The Tree’ (feat. Kudos): a conversation between an old tree and newly hatched bird and their thoughts on humans.

Chia is set to tour The Human Grey in Hobart and Melbourne with supports from local underground hip-hop favourites including Viliani and DJ Mizhap and exclusive merch.

The project follows a string of big years for Chia, winning the Australian Women In Music SSI Diversity in Music Award, releasing her sophomore album Undulation of a Healing Heart (2025) and touring in Aotearoa.
