Naarm/Melbourne dream-pop group Deuce have released their sophomore album Wild Type via Dinosaur City Records.

Deuce emerged in Covid’s 2020 lockdown when Kayleigh Heydon and Curtis Wakeling extended their romantic bond into a creative one, releasing their home-recorded, mixed, and produced self-titled debut album via Dinosaur City Records in 2021 before the duo had ever played together outside of their home.

For Wild Type, the duo build on their debut album’s foundation, going bigger and broader with a newfound confidence and profundity; swapping out their bedroom studio in Thornbury for a recording space in Coburg and trading drum machines for a live sound.

Straddling the line between intimate and personal dream pop and upbeat indie rock, Wild Type collages themes of vulnerability, tenderness, love, and loss, with Heydon and Wakeling swapping instruments and vocals across the album’s ten tracks

Live, Deuce extend to a five-piece band, with Jake O’Brien (NOCON) on drums, Angie Brown on bass, and Claudia Colvin on synth. Solid fixtures on the local music circuit, the group have shared stages with some of the country’s most exciting artists including Julia Jacklin, Cool Sounds, and FLOWERTRUCK.

Release: April 28th, 2023, Dinosaur City Records
