Tasmanian rising star Grace Chia is thrilled to announce the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, Undulation of a Healing Heart. This deeply personal and sonically diverse record takes listeners on a powerful journey of healing, self-discovery, and emotional rebirth.
The genre defying project explores the triumphs and downfalls of healing from heartbreak, and follows a massive few years for Grace, including the release of a new single every month of 2024, and her debut album, Marsapollo, in 2023. Grace performed 52 gigs in 2024 including sets at Party in The Paddock, MONA FOMA, Dark MOFO, A Festival Called Panama and recently for the New Zealand new year’s festival Twisted Frequency.
With a sound that blends hip-hop, R&B, poetry, soul, and indie pop, Undulation of a Healing Heart marks a bold evolution in Chia’s musical style. The album captures the raw emotion of grappling with heartbreak and loss of self, offering an intimate exploration of her healing process. Through each track, Chia invites listeners to experience the highs and lows of her personal journey, weaving her signature blend of introspective lyrics and captivating melodies.
True to Chia’s prolific and political stance in songwriting, the album’s lead single, ‘Call It Out’ explores her fight against misogyny in the hip-hop industry and beyond. “I want to make change in the way I know how, through articulating this fury through music.” she says, “This is a call for change. We need your voice more than ever. Use it.”
The title track of the album showcases Chia’s unique and poetic approach to songwriting. An emotional peak of growth and triumph in the album, Undulation of a Healing Heart offers an anthem that defies current trends of Australia’s music industry.
One of Tasmania’s most exciting emerging artists, Grace has been widely recognised for her prolific releases and performances. In 2023 she received the People’s Choice Award at The Young Achiever Awards, was nominated for Best Live Act at The National Live Music Awards and named in The Push’s ’25 Under 25’ best emerging artists. Last year, Chia was selected to receive The Nick Balcombe Foundation’s ‘Live Your Dream’ grant, and shortlisted for AU$’s ‘Best Emerging Artists’. With over 50 releases, international shows and consistent bookings under her belt, Grace Chia is one to watch in 2025.
