What’s it like down there? is the second album from Melbourne scallywags Porpoise Spit. A gutsy evolution of the Porps you know and love with some darker twists and more ambitious anthems. This album seeks to uncover, question and transcend the the ideology of their first record Don’t Quit (2023), and begs the question; what happens after you decide not to quit?
Recorded by Paul Maybury (Cable Ties, Augie March, King Gizz) in Fairfield, Victoria, What’s It Like Down There? features 10 tracks, from the yearning heartache of ‘Land’ to the raucous stupidity of ‘The Boys’.
Pretty much the full range of human emotions, then!
A love letter to community, mateship and, well, love, What’s It Like Down There? features Porpoise Spit’s most sophisticated songwriting yet. It builds on the template established by their community-radio worrying 2023 debut, but makes it bigger, sadder, sillier – more PORPS.
Release: September 26, 2025, Independent
