Australian powerhouse and singer songwriter Thndo is ready to take a chance with the release of Lessons In Love, her second full length album.
For many Australian audiences, the ‘First Lady of Soul and R&B’ is a description that takes stunning form in Thndo. She is no stranger to the stage, a contemporary crowd favourite at the likes of Bluesfest, Jungle Love, WOMAD, Groovin the Moo, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, St Kilda Festival, Mullum Festival, and FLOW Festival, and has supported artists including Leon Bridges, Allen Stone, Odette, Ngaiire, and Baker Boy.
The picture of where elegance meets prowess, Lessons In Love is filled with unabashed honesty, weaving together stories of courage, candour, and conflict, to create messages of empowerment, featuring the voices of HALO Vocal Ensemble throughout some of the tracks. From finding bravery in diving head first into relationships in Ocean Floor Pt. 1 and Pt. 2, the uphill battles in ‘Along The Way’ and ‘Holding On’, and the questions and “what if?”s in ‘Given Time’ and ‘Forward’, to leaning into moments of connection in ‘Chance’ and ‘Bedroom Eyes’, there is a lesson to be learned for everyone. Her hypnotic vocals search for the uplifting moments in ‘Fall’ and ‘4EVA’, and facing the challenging decisions that come with motherhood in work and relationships with ‘Another Day’ and album closer ‘Purpose’, written by close friend and collaborator Audrey Powne.
Release: February 14th, 2025, Independent
