HOBART, Tasmania — November 2025
Tasmania’s only youth-focused, independent radio station, Edge Radio 99.3FM, is celebrating 22 years of radio less ordinary with a massive fundraiser and birthday gig from 7–15 November 2025, aiming to raise $22,222 to support local music, emerging voices, and grassroots media.
Since launching in 2003, Edge Radio has championed local artists, emerging broadcasters, and diverse Tasmanian voices, becoming a cornerstone of Hobart’s independent music scene.
“In the current environment, media diversity and grassroots content are more important than ever,” said Edge Radio Station Manager Corey Stephen. “That’s where Edge Radio thrives — providing alternative voices and the very best in local music. By supporting our fundraiser, you’re helping local musicians, artists and storytellers, and investing in the next generation of Tasmanian media makers.”
Fundraising for the future of Tasmanian radio
With more than 80 volunteers across on-air and production roles, Edge Radio continues to operate as a not-for-profit, community-driven station. Funds raised through the campaign will go directly towards maintaining independent broadcasting, training programs, and new opportunities for young and emerging radio talent across the state.
“We’ve already raised more than $2,000 towards our $22,222 goal,” said Stephen. “Every dollar makes a difference to keeping independent radio alive in lutruwita/Tasmania.”
22-hour Radiothon and Birthday Gig at Altar Bar
The celebrations culminate in a 22-hour Radiothon featuring Edge’s favourite presenters, counting down to a fundraising gig at Altar Bar on Saturday 15 November.
The lineup showcases the depth and diversity of the local scene, including:
TEENS – post-punk energy and chaotic live presence
Q.E. – lush experimental pop
Baltimöre Charlót & The Experience – fearless art pop
Spooky Eyes – psychedelic power trio brilliance
“Edge Radio keeps this scene alive. Full stop,” said Sam Dowson, Music Program Manager at DarkLab, which is hosting the event at Altar Bar. “They give a platform to people who might never get one otherwise — the weird, the raw, the ones pushing against trends. If you care about Tasmanian music, you back Edge Radio.”
Baltimöre Charlót added,
“Please support and keep Edge Radio alive, because without it, the nipaluna/Hobart music scene is nothing.”
Tickets to the gig are $30 and available now at Altar Bar.
