EDGE RADIO RECOMMENDED: Office Dog – ‘Prime Corner’

“…speaks to the push and pull of “normal life” as well as the feelings brought about by having no real roots in the ground.”

EDGE RADIO RECOMMENDED: Leah Senior – ‘Pt. Roadknight’

“Leah’s fifth studio album has an epistolary quality, its pensive, solitary tendencies are transformed into a resonant point of connection.”

“We just followed our nose. If it worked, we followed it down the lane. If it didn’t we left it there.”

    Office Dog – ‘Prime Corner’

Office Dog is an Aotearoa indie rock band known for their understated charm, jangly guitar work, and songwriting.

Blending lo-fi sensibilities with strong melodies, their music pairs warm textures with reflective lyrics, often capturing everyday moments with a light, wry tone.

Threaded with themes of instability and the home, Office Dog’s second album Prime Corner was predominantly authored while songwriter and vocalist/guitarist Kane Strang was house sitting for a month in West Auckland.

Dynamically, Prime Corner is a mixed bag; the album contains both Office Dog’s heaviest and softest tracks to date – and speaks to the push and pull of “normal life” as well as the feelings brought about by having no real roots in the ground.

    Leah Senior – ‘Pt. Roadknight’

Somewhere between Sandy Denny’s arresting clarity and Vashti Bunyan’s gentle depth sits the luminous voice of Australian folk diviner Leah Senior.

While the style and instrumentation of ‘70s Brit folk are touchstones on Senior’s new album, Pt. Roadknight, her disarming lyrics are fresh and wholehearted, wrestling with modern concerns of gentrification and isolation while finding solace in the quiet beauty of the Victoria surfcoast town where she lives.

Her fifth studio album, and first with Third Eye Stimuli, Senior explores her introspective, nature-loving side while honing the singular baroque psych folk that has captivated listeners around the world.
